How it began
From a stone cottage to a boutique house
Joynexa began in 2013 as a single schist-stone cottage on the Queenstown lakefront. Harrison Whitfield, a local builder with a love of native timber, bought the plot with one idea: a small hotel that felt like a friend's home rather than a brand.
Over thirteen years the house grew — room by room, always with local stone, rimu and wool, always with the mountains in view. The casino-inspired lounge came later, modelled on the social salons of old country houses: a place to gather, play a hand of cards and talk, never to gamble.
Today Joynexa remains family-run. We are small on purpose, and we intend to stay that way.
Our philosophy
Quiet luxury, kept offline
We believe the best hospitality is unhurried and face-to-face. No app to check in, no screen at the table, no online gaming behind the bar. Every part of Joynexa happens in person — because that is where attention lives.
